I can’t find the words to describe what has been happening in palestine in recent months.
Before our eyes, one of the most inhumane and tragic episodes that this so-called modern society has ever seen is unfolding.
Perpetrated by a militaristic, colonialist state that has been oppressing and killing the palestitian population for over 70 years. An apartheid state that, without shame, considers itself anti-racist and democratic.
This massacre is happening under the complicit gaze of all those countries that have always claimed to be bastions of democracy and freedom.
The same states that, out of opportunism or to cleanse their blood-stained conscience, have armed and supported this increasingly brutal and racist regime.

For months, israel, with the complicity of almost all western countries, has been killing tens of thousands of palestinian women, men, and children with weapons and starvation, trapped in gaza without a way out. This is a humanitarian catastrophe and an act of ferocious collective punishment that leaves me speechless.

The majority of western governments are complicit in this massacre, either through tacit consent or through active military support to israel (italy is the third largest weapon supplier after usa and germany).

Let’s stop the oppression and extermination of the palestinian people.
There will never be peace in this world as long as these injustices and atrocities continue.

“Il mercato dell’usato dell’Albergheria nasce in un periodo imprecisato a cavallo fra la fine degli anni ‘90 e gli inizi degli anni 2000.
Difficile essere precisi, perché il segno distintivo di questo luogo è sempre stata l’informalità.
Le storie di chi c’era raccontano sia nato dentro il mercato storico alimentare di Ballarò, spostandosi nel corso del tempo verso San Saverio.
Crescendo, è diventato il più grande luogo di scambio o vendita di modico valore della città, letteralmente di qualsiasi cosa.
Le ragioni di una simile espansione, che ha raggiunto punte di 800 -1.000 mercatarə al giorno, le possiamo articolare in tanti modi, ma si riconducono sostanzialmente all’enorme precarietà economica, unita spesso alla marginalizzazione sociale di una grande fetta di popolazione a Palermo.
Quando un bisogno così forte come quello di arrivare a fine giornata, incontra un territorio poco presidiato da parte delle istituzioni, sia in termini di controlli che in termini di servizi, allora si consolidano delle pratiche spontanee e autogovernate.”

Italy-Libya agreement: EU-sponsored abuse in Libya and the central Mediterranean.

In February 2017, the Italian government signed an EU-sponsored agreement with the Libyan government: the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Migration.  Renewed in 2020 for a further three years, the MoU is part of a broader defensive strategy being pursued by European governments, based on a security approach against migrants. Rather than giving migrants protection, it seeks to keep them out. 
Under this agreement, Italy and the EU have been helping the Libyan Coastguard to enhance their maritime surveillance capacity, providing them with financial support and technical assets. Since 2017, Italy has set aside €32.6 million for international missions to support the Libyan Coastguard, with €10.5 million allocated in 2021, the agreement is expected to be renewed in 2023 for another 3 years.
This funding comes at the expense of migrants and refugees’ human rights, as everyone intercepted at sea by the Libyan Coastguard ends up in a Libyan detention centre. The agreement between Italy and Libya supports the system of exploitation, extortion and abuse in which so many migrants find themselves trapped. more here

Emilio Scalzo, attivista No Tav e No Border è stato arrestato in seguito ad un mandato di cattura internazionale emanato dalle autorità francesi, con l’accusa di aver ferito un gendarme durante una manifestazione transfrontaliera svoltasi lo scorso maggio.
Emilio, come tanti altri negli ultimi tre anni si è speso per rendere meno difficile l’attraversamento del confine ai migranti senza documenti in viaggio verso la Francia e il nord Europa.
Negli ultimi anni cinque migranti sono morti nel tentativo di passare la montagna.
Un confine quasi invisibile per turisti e viaggiatori con le “carte in regola” è diventato una barriera fatta di neve, gendarmi che inseguono, picchiano e respingono: una violenza intollerabile, contro la quale si battono quelli come Emilio.
